Ursa Major High
Mar 31, 2003

Skymap expects Ursa Major, at 23:00 when El Paso does night viewing, to have the top of the front cup at Azi 5, with the cup spreading from Azi 5° to 25°. Most notable is the Altitude, which is supposed to be Alt 30°, closer to the horizon, but was seen HIGHER in the dome. This is appropriate for a globe in the December position, with the N. Pole tilted toward the Sun.

Tonite the Big Dipper cup is Azi 360 with Alt 5° to 10° North of dome with handle pointed east. The top of cup front star is about where Polaris would usually be, but just a little too far North.
